The Lady Dunn Health Centre Foundation is raising money for a new ultrasound machine.

The Wawa health care facility’s current Aplio 500 ultrasound machine has been in operation for almost 10 years, which is about three years past its expected life span.

Around 1,000 scans are performed on the vital piece of diagnostic equipment every year.

Although the government funds most operational costs, it does not cover most capital equipment.

The foundation says $175,000 is needed for the new machine.

“Radiologists, across the province, are requesting standardized technology and newer machines to ensure more consistent scan interpretations,” it said in a news release.

The foundation is running its Wheels and Waves Raffle. A $20 ticket gives you a chance to win an ATV or a boat, trailer and motor. There are 5,000 tickets available until the draw on May 1, 2025.

And the foundation hopes to raise $24,000 at its Glam for Good Gala on Saturday, Nov. 30.

There are still tickets available, which include hors d’oeuvres, a prime rib dinner, late night snacks, dancing and a silent auction.
