Warmest reception ever for Coldest Night of the Year

More than 300 volunteers and walkers help raise a record $138K at Sault event

More than 300 walkers helped raise a record $138,000 to support St. Vincent Place’s during the "Coldest Night of the Year" event held over the weekend.

The money will go toward St. Vincent Place’s transitional residence, soup kitchen, food bank and Lunches for Learning program.

This year's event marked the most money raised during the Coldest Night of the Year, in addition to the highest number of teams and walkers.

"We would also like to say thank you to our many sponsors. S&T Group came on board as our lead sponsor and RM Frolich was our rest-stop sponsor," a news release said. "Our community sponsors this year were Assante Wealth Management, Avery Construction, BDO Canada, Dawson & Keenan, JD Aero, Maitland Ford Lincoln, McDougall Energy, Northern Insurance Brokers, Savoy’s Jewellers, Wishart Law Firm, and YNCU."

Other businesses and organizations that supported the event include Brohart Family Photography, Children’s Aid Society of Algoma, Cliffe Printing, Northwood Funeral Home, Perfectly Painted Faces, Sault Ste. Marie Museum, Soapy’z Auto Wash, and Starbucks. St. Vincent Place recognized the hard work of its volunteers, including Jennifer Sarlo, who again acted as co-event director.
