Supplied bio: Lou Turco was first elected to the Sault Ste. Marie City Council on Monday, November 13, 2000 and was returned to office in 2003, 2006 and 2010 by Ward Four voters.
Lou was born in Campora San Giovanni, Cosenza, Italy on May 13, 1946, the oldest child of the late Giuseppe (Joe) and the late Teresa Turco.
Lou is married to Sandra P. Turco, a Trustee with the Huron Superior Catholic School Board, and is the son-in-law of Irish immigrants, Dennis a retired steelworker, and Teresa Murphy.
Lou has two adult children, Teri Lou and Ricky.
Teri Lou is married to a former Soo Greyhound, Ralph Intranuovo who is currently playing hockey in Asiago, Italy with Soo Boys, John Parco (Porco), David Borelli and Nick Plastino.
Today, Lou continues his support of the Soo Greyhounds as a season's ticket holder.
Lou's son, Ricky, resides in Sault Ste Marie and is very fortunate to be employed locally where he runs "Turco Distributing".
Lou and Sandra are the proud grandparents of Marco Louis who was born in Austria on February 1, 2003. Marco is currently in grade two.
Lou has spent over forty six years in radio broadcasting working at the former CJIC, CKCY, CFYN, 100.5 CHAS, KNOW AM 1400, TALK RADIO 1400, 99.5 YES FM & The Bear 97.9.
Lou currently hosts the Weekend Club on Oldies 93 every Saturday morning from 9am -12 noon.
In Lou's spare time besides supporting local teams, he cheers for a winning combination - the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Yankees.
