Submitted bio:

Lorena was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie.

Similar to many others in our community, her parents immigrated to Canada and came from very humble beginnings.

Despite many adversities they established themselves and have been part of the downtown business community for over 54 years.

She is a Ward 4 business woman, community activist and former Ward 4 City Councillor (2006-2010).

Her educational background is in Political Science and Public Relations.

In 2004, Lorena was one of the youth that returned to this city to live, work and invest.

She became heavily involved in issues impacting Ward 4 residents and the community.

In 2006, Lorena sought a seat as a candidate for City Council and was elected as the first woman and youngest member to represent Ward 4.

While serving on City Council, Lorena established a reputation of being a tenacious grass roots leader.

She was known for hosting public consultations and effectively mobilized neighbourhoods and community groups to address issues impacting their area.

Since that time, Lorena has remained committed to Ward 4 residents and this community by staying heavily involved in charitable organizations and issues impacting Sault Ste. Marie.

She is an active member of the Sault Ste. Marie Ratepayers Association and an executive member of the Calabrians Multicultural Society Inc., which are currently in the process of establishing a Cultural and Entertainment Centre in Ward 4.

Lorena has extensive experience in community and economic development.

In addition she has significant insight into the impact small-to-medium size businesses have on the local economy and job creation.

Tridico’s campaign focuses on progressive leadership encompassing community and economic development, fiscal responsibility, and open and transparent government.

Tridico also focuses on quality of life issues affecting Ward 4 constituents.

Some of these concerns include neighbourhood safety, affordable housing, senior and youth issues, healthcare and education, arts and culture and the environment.

“I am not interested in being a career politician. I believe this community has seen enough of that, specifically here in Ward 4 where the incumbents have been on council 14 years and another a total of 16 years.  I am a firm believer that in order for this community to move forward we need progressive leadership. We need leadership that has vision, passion and energy; leadership that is not afraid of being vocal and standing up for the ordinary citizen.  In times of crisis, the residents of Ward 4 will know that I will be there for them.  I believe that it is important that the citizens of this community are aware that I will work for them, not for City Hall.” states Lorena Tridico.

Lorena is a firm believer that if one wants to see change happen in a neighbourhood or community, one has to be part of that change.

Lorena has experienced leadership, and is proud to represent the next generation in municipal politics.
