Supplied bio: Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Susan left the Sault to enter the Travel and Tourism Program at Humber College in Toronto in 1973 where she remained for the next ten years working in the travel and tourism industry.
Susan was the first Manager of Marketing and Tourism for the city's Economic Development Corporation and retired in 2003.
She got actively involved in the community volunteering on various boards such as Sault College and the Art Gallery and successfully ran for City Council in Ward 2 in 2006, 2010 and is seeking re-election again in October 2014.
Susan is the first woman Councillor in Ward 2.
Susan's most fulfilling career accomplishment was the development and implementation of the city's marketing brand logo and slogan naturally gifted.
Susan’s claim to fame is the creation of the Girl Guide Chocolatey Mint Cookie; Girl Guides of Canada credits her with this while she was volunteering on the Provincial Marketing Committee for Ontario Girl Guides.
Susan is a committed community volunteer and has been on many boards and committees.
At present she is on the Historic Sites Board and the Crisis Pregnancy Centre’s Advisory Board. Susan is an active member at Westminster Presbyterian Church
As a civic leader, Susan especially enjoyed leading the City's 100th Anniversary celebrations in 2012, a three year project, as Management Chair of Celebrate 100!
Susan considers the job of a City Councillor to be a great privilege and truly an honour; she believes it is a terrific way to give back to the community she loves.
