Beginning Wednesday, COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Sault Ste. Marie and Blind River are now accepting walk-ins.
Following is a full release from Algoma Public Health on which clinics are accepting walk-ins:
Starting today, Feb. 2, 2022, all COVID-19 clinics hosted by Algoma Public Health across the Algoma district will accept walk-ins. Scheduled appointments will still be available for those who would prefer to book an appointment with a dedicated time.
To see all of the clinics taking place in Algoma, visit Vaccine Clinics in Algoma. You can also continue to receive your vaccine from local pharmacies, Indigenous-led clinics, or select primary care offices. Please check the website, as some partner-led clinics may also allow for walk-ins, while others are appointment based.
Adult Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
Although the majority of clinics continue to offer the Moderna mRNA COVID-19 Vaccine for those aged 30+, the Algoma region has received a small amount of the adult Pfizer vaccine for first, second, and third doses for individuals aged 18+. Pfizer and Moderna are safe and effective mRNA vaccines approved by Health Canada and can be safely mixed to complete your vaccine series. Clinics offering Pfizer will be held in Sault Ste. Marie and Blind River.

Importance of getting your 3rd dose (booster)
Algoma residents eligible for a 3rd dose include all people aged 18+, after at least 84 days (three months) have passed since their second dose.
A 3rd dose of vaccine can be lifesaving for older adults and people who have vulnerable health conditions. The goal of a third dose is to restore protection that may have decreased over time and fallen below an ideal level to protect you against severe illness, hospitalization or death related to COVID-19.
Although two doses of vaccine provides some protection against severe disease and hospitalization, it no longer offers good protection against symptomatic illness and infection. A third dose (booster) provides better protection than a two dose series and increases vaccine effectiveness at preventing hospitalization and intensive care admission following an infection with Omicron.
Vaccination remains the best defence against COVID-19, including the Omicron variant, and you are strongly encouraged to get a third dose as soon as you are eligible.
