Search efforts are underway off Lake Superior's south shore for a man and woman believed to have been swept into the water by massive waves.
Authorities say the couple disappeared Tuesday afternoon from a popular overlook in Marquette, Michigan.
The U.S. National Weather Service reported wind gusts of about 100 km/h that kicked up waves of 25 to 30 feet along the Lake Superior shoreline.
A video posted to YouTube shows waves pounding the Granite Island lighthouse, 10 kilometres offshore, north of Marquette.
The U.S. Coast Guard conducted an initial search for the couple but search and recovery efforts are now in the hands of local police.
