Local artist and proud St. Joseph Islander Doug Hook passed away on Thursday.
Through his nearly 50-year career as a full-time painter, Hook's work has been exhibited worldwide and pieces hold places of honour in private collections of some highly notable figures, including former Premier Bill Davis and Prince Charles.
"It has been an interesting life," Hook said in a 2017 interview with SooToday videographer Drew Armstrong. "There have been times... I thought it would be so much easier to just have a job. But one of the things I noticed after I left my last job and I started painting full time, that you miss the long weekends."
