Two alleged thieves are in a boatload of trouble after being caught sneaking around an island camp on the the North Chanel of Lake Huron.
On May 26, shortly after 7 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police received a call from the camp's owner, who claimed to have video footage of two people trespassing on the property earlier that morning.
Officers with the OPP's East Algoma detachment visited the island by boat, a news release states. Once there, they discovered a silver aluminum boat pulled up on the rocky shore.
Shortly after 8 a.m., officers located two people inside a shed and placed them under arrest.
Nash Mills, 26, from Perth is charged with:
- Theft Under $5,000
- Mischief Under $5,000
- Break, enter a place-commit indictable offence
- Possession of break in instruments
Amanda Leclair, 37, from Blind River is charged with:
- Theft Under $5,000
- Mischief Under $5,000
- Break, enter a place-commit indictable offence
Both suspects are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on July 6.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and both suspects are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
