Those are some mighty tall sunflowers! (5 photos)

Rich soil and regular watering throughout the dry spell set these sunflowers growing proudly toward the sky - and catching a lot of eyes along the way

Two multiple-bloom sunflowers - one standing proudly at 10-feet tall, and the other at eight-foot, six-inches tall - are attracting the attention of many in the small community of Desbarats and surrounding area.

Early in the spring, Marie Gibbon with Canada Post decided to purchase a starter kit from a community business.

Gibbon nurtured the four seeds and, in May, planted the seeds in two flower boxes outside the postal outlet. Only two seeds survived.

It's the second year Gibbon said she planted the bright yellow plants.

Last year's plants were impressive, standing about five feet tall but nothing, she said, like this year's growth.

Gibbon attributed the eye-catching stocks to a mix of rich soil and regular watering throughout the dry spell.
