Organizers are declaring this year's Tampon Tuesday event "a resounding success."

The collaboration between the United Way of Sault Ste. Marie and OC Beauty saw around 1,120 unopened boxes of menstrual products dropped off at over 30 locations, including local businesses, grocery stores and pharmacies.

“This impactful campaign raises awareness about the scarcity of menstrual products in crucial community spaces,” organizers said in a news release.

Of the collected products, 720 unopened boxes will head to Harvest Algoma to be distributed to more than 70 partner agencies across Algoma District.

The other 400 boxes, along with some donations still to come from a few partners, will go to St. Vincent Place, SOYA (Save Our Young Adults) and Northland Adult Learning Center.

“Tampon Tuesday 2024 not only addresses immediate needs but sparks conversations around menstrual health, fostering a more inclusive and supportive community for all,” organizers added.
