This 'super unique' property is Sault's cheapest real estate listing right now

A former pump house at the base of Bruce Street hill has been used as a storage unit for decades — and is now being sold as-is, where-is for $24,900

A unique property at 304 Bruce St. that once acted as a pump house is currently for sale for $24,900.

The lowest-priced property listing on the market in Sault Ste. Marie right now is also one many people drive past and may assume is part of a public utility.

A former pump house at 304 Bruce St. was sold off by the city or a public utility years ago and was used for decades as storage by its current owner, who has since died, said listing agent Hunter Waugh with Exit Realty True North.

The building can now be yours for $24,900.

"It's a super unique piece of real estate, even though it's kind of just been used as a glorified garage since 1996," said Waugh.

Publicly available land transfer documents show the property last changed hands in 1996, when it was sold to the current owner for $18,000.

Waugh agreed that many who pass the building at the base of Bruce Street hill likely assume it's a piece of infrastructure owned by the city or a public utility.

"It's super interesting," he said.

According to the listing for the property — which trumpets a "unique ownership opportunity" — the building measures approximately 20 by 30 feet. Because there is no sewage or water hook-up, it's a storage unit, not a living space.

Although the numbered address is on Bruce Street, the best access to the property and nearby on-street parking is off Trelawne Avenue.

Waugh said title has been verified on the property, which is about 36 feet wide and goes up the Bruce Street hill for over 100 feet. It is being sold as-is, where-is, with the buyer responsible to verify all zoning, access, taxes, dimensions and uses.
