That's a lot of tractors! (37 photos)

More than 100 proud tractor owners took part in the 22nd annual Canada Day Tractor Trot in Richards Landing

Long before the first of 110 tractors pulled away from the Royal Canadian Legion parking lot in Richards Landing at 9 a.m. Sunday, many were looking for shade.

The heat did not deter participants from taking part in the 22nd annual Canada Day Tractor Trot.

Drivers and spectators braced for the pending heat wave early in the day with large umbrellas, head wear and plenty of fluids.

Registered drivers ranged from lawn tractors to a front-end loaders, including numerous makes, models and sizes.

Following the trot through Richards Landing, tractor drivers, families and visitors gathered at the hall for a hardy breakfast.

Following her introduction which explained how the trot came to be, event coordinator Jeanne Arthurs announced the official number of participants.

Arthurs offered many thanks, from the volunteers who assisted with the pancake breakfast to the numerous donations from various businesses.

Event highlights also included a modified lawn tractor and its 350 engine, owned and driven by Laurence MacKay.

This year also saw a welcomed number of new comers and repeat visitors from across the St. Joseph Island, the immediate north shore and to points east and west.

The newest machine was a 2017 New Holland, and the oldest was the classic 1926 Eagle.

The Eagle, owned and driven by Greg Gilbertson, was one of a small handful of tractors that drove in the very first Tractor Trot more than 20 years ago.

Friends and family of Gilbertson helped out by driving one of his 26 machines present.
