Take a tour of our local filtration plant on World Water Day

March 22 is World Water Day, and PUC wants to "celebrate" the occasion with guided tours of the Sault's local water filtration plant. 

"We are excited to extend this invitation to the public," said Brooke Suurna, director of water operations, in a news release issued today by PUC Services Inc. "It is an opportunity for individuals to see the diligence and dedication that goes into ensuring the provision of safe and clean drinking water for our community."

The tours will run every 20 minutes between 3 and 7:20 p.m. Space is limited, so those interested are encouraged to register early.

"During the tour, participants will witness the rigorous protocols employed by our skilled team of experts," the news release states. "From filtration to disinfection, attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the various stages involved in the treatment process and the measures implemented to uphold water quality standards."

Sault Ste. Marie, March 13, 2024 – As the world gears up to commemorate World Water Day on March 22nd, PUC Services Inc. (PUC) is thrilled to announce a unique opportunity for the public to gain insight into the intricate process of water purification. In celebration of this important global event, we invite citizens to join us at the water filtration plant for a tour of the facility.

During the tour, participants will witness the rigorous protocols employed by our skilled team of experts. From filtration to disinfection, attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the various stages involved in the treatment process and the measures implemented to uphold water quality standards.

The tours promises to be both educational and enlightening, offering attendees a behind-the-scenes look at the critical infrastructure that supports our daily lives. Participants will also have the chance to engage with our knowledgeable staff, who will be on hand to answer questions and provide insights into the importance of water conservation and stewardship.

The open house runs from 3:00 PM to 7:20 PM on Friday, March 22nd, with tours every twenty minutes. All participants must wear closed-toe shoes. Hard hats and safety glasses will be provided.
