In March of 2024 the Soo Polar Bear Masters Swim Team will be hosting the 20th Anniversary Hui Lee Memorial Swim to raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.  On March 27 it will be 20 years since the unexpected death of this amazing local physician.

In 1993 Dr. Hui Lee joined the ADMG and he worked diligently to develop and implement the innovative Health Promotions Initiative (HPI) program and numerous other research projects that have contributed to the Primary Care Excellence model at the Group Health Centre.  He was instrumental in the development of our current Anticoagulation, Congestive Heart Failure/ Family Health, Cardiac Rehab and Diabetes Programs.  The foundational work that he started has created programs which are the envy of larger centers in Ontario.  In 2002, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario gave Dr. Hui Lee the prestigious Council award recognizing physicians who come closest to meeting society's vision of an 'ideal' doctor.

Hui’s swim team mates continue to advocate for a cause which Dr. Lee supported in his personal life and his professional career.

We expect approximately 40 swimmers for this event including Dr. Lee’s three children and their partners as well as his siblings. Three members of our GHC team will be participating in this 10 km event.  We would appreciate any support you are able to give to help us make this the most successful event to date.
