The CBC is making new revelations tonight about Kevin Gregson, the former Sault Area Hospital orderly and former RCMP officer charged last week with slaying Ottawa Police Constable Eric Czapnik.
Court documents obtained by the network show that RCMP officials in Saskatchewan were so concerned about Gregson's behaviour that they once obtained a warrant to remove firearms and ammunition from the inactive officer's home.
Gregson challenged the warrant and persuaded a judge to return his weapons after arguing that he wasn't a violent man, he just sometimes said stupid things.
Among other things, he's alleged to have said that he enjoyed working with drunk drivers and psychiatric patients because he could use physical force on them and no one would believe them if they complained.
