Structure destroyed in Rupert Acres trailer park fire

The fire was the third to occur in the trailer park this year

For at least the third time this year, firefighters have responded to an active fire in the Rupert Acres trailer park in Heyden.

The Aweres Fire Department posted about the latest fire shortly after 4 p.m. on Monday. Firefighters from the Goulais Fire Department were also on scene. The trailer park is located on Hwy. 17 N, just north of the turnoff to Hwy. 556.

Deputy chief Craig Buckner of the Aweres Fire Department said no one was inside the trailer at the time of the fire and no firefighters were injured during the operation.

"I think the only notable thing was just fighting the fire on the hottest day of the year," said Buckner.

Shortly after 6 p.m. the last of the fire trucks that had been fighting the trailer fire in the 100-block of Rupert Acres Drive returned to the station. By then, the fire at the trailer had been extinguished and yellow OPP tape surrounded the scene.

Extensive damage was done to the structures on the property.

Buckner said there isn't currently an investigation into the cause of the fire.

The department responded to other fires in the same trailer park on May 30 and Jan. 25 of this year.
