Spring begins on Wednesday morning. Really.

While the calendar says spring officially starts in the Sault and area with the Equinox on Wednesday, March 20 at 7:02 a.m., the weather says otherwise.

While the calendar says spring officially starts in the Sault and area with the Equinox on Wednesday, March 20 at 7:02 a.m., the weather says otherwise.

Folks trying to hide and hunt eggs, or throw open the windows and doors for a good spring cleaning on Wednesday are going to find themselves a bit chilled.

Okay, probably a lot.

Environment Canada says it's going to be snowing from now until Thursday some time.

Right through the Equinox.

Snow, with average temperatures hovering around -4 C for the majority of that time.

Meanwhile, last year at this time, the temperature was a balmy 24.2 C, the sun was shining and folks were walking around in shorts, T-shirts and sandals.

This year the Greco family is one of many in the Sault who will be able to celebrate the Spring Equinox by skating on their backyard rink.

"Hi,

We just wanted to point out that we are two days before spring and our rink is still in good shape and with this weather coming we should be able to hang on for a lot longer than any other year.
