Sault Ste. Marie City Council will be asked Monday to approve a donor recognition package aimed at raising the $250,000 in remaining contributions needed to build the city's first splash pad in Bellevue Park.
So far, $300,000 has been raised for the $550,000 project.
The city's splash pad subcommittee intends to install a donor wall at the building site to recognize donors who give $1,000 or more.
Those donors will also be invited to the project's ground-breaking ceremony and will receive a letter from Mayor Christian Provenzano.
To ensure full recognition, signed sponsor forms must be submitted by Mar, 1.
"Splash pads are a colourful way to enhance our city's parks and ... often include engaging water features such a shower heads and spray jets with various activated, in-ground and above-ground features that spray water in different patterns and directions cooling visitors off on hot summer days," says new promotional material prepared for the final push for cash.
The material outlines three aspects of the project:
- $300,000 for 24 active water-play components with a spray area of 192 square metres
- $100,000 for underground infrastructure, engineering and design
- $150,000 for shelter, change areas and pathways
Monday's City Council meeting will be livestreamed on SooToday starting at 4:30 p.m.
