Slow down and pay attention if you're driving today, as areas north of Sault Ste. Marie could expect snow squalls today, Environment Canada warns.
Snow squalls are expected to begin this morning, and areas around Agawa-Lake Superior Park and Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay could see anywhere from 15-20 cm of snow by midnight.
Drivers are advised to postpone non-essential travel as visibility could be drastically reduced.
The full Environment Canada release is as follows:
Snow squall watch in effect for:
- Agawa - Lake Superior Park
- Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay
Snow squalls are expected to develop. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate.
Snow squalls are likely beginning later this morning.
Snowfall accumulations of 15 to 20 cm are possible by midnight when the snow squalls will shift out of the region.
Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
