Mountain bikers will soon have another place to pedal in Sault Ste. Marie.

The grand opening of the Finn Hill Mountain Bike Trail takes place this Saturday, Oct. 12 at 11 a.m.

We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of the Finn Hill Mountain Bike Trail!

This event marks not only the opening of a new trail but also the culmination of a community effort to enhance outdoor recreation, promote a healthy, active lifestyle, adventure, and a connection with nature. We are proud to offer a space that can be enjoyed year-round by outdoor enthusiasts.

Come celebrate the hard work of our community, volunteers, and partners who made this project a reality. Bring your bikes, your family, and your friends — let’s hit the trail together!

Activities: Ribbon cutting, trail tour by bike, time trials

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony: Be part of the official moment as we cut the ribbon to open the trail.
Time: 11 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Time Trials: The fun will start at 11:30 AM with time trials! For those interested in participating, see how long it takes to ride the trail in this friendly competition. Take as many laps as you like. No registration required. Note: This trail is classified as Intermediate with short steep sections and some jumps that can be rolled.
Time: 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

What to Bring:

  • Your mountain bike (if you’re planning to ride)
  • Comfortable clothes and shoes
  • A helmet (safety first!)
  • Your excitement and community spirit!

Trail Access Info

From the main parking area at the base of Finn Hill, bike or walk the paved hub trail north until you see the trailhead sign on your left. This is the entrance of the trail as it is one-way only.

IMPORTANT:  The trail starting location is approximately 1km down the hub trail from the Finn Hill parking lot. Note the travel time required for walking to this location for the ribbon cutting.
