The good news is, there were no new wildfires reported in northeastern Ontario today.
The not so good news is that smoke from several wildfires burning in northern Quebec was once again impacting communities in northern Ontario, including Timmins, Sudbury, and North Bay, fire officials said.
"Smoke drift from wildland fires in northern Quebec along the eastern side of James Bay is being seen across the Northeast Region," the Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services for Northeast Fire Region said.
Smoke can cause breathing problems for people with certain health conditions, who may need to take precautions such as staying indoors. To track the smoke situation, visit FireSmoke.ca for both the current and forecast conditions.
There are currently 32 active wildland fires, AFFES reported.
Of these, 28 are being observed and four are under control.
After rain and cooler temperatures in most areas over the weekend, the fire hazard was described as low across the majority of the Northeast Region.
There was a moderate fire hazard along the coast of James Bay north of Moosonee, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry's firefighting service said.
