'Significant damage' in Grosvenor Avenue fire

No injuries were reported as a result of the Monday fire

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services say smoke was visible from a two-storey structure on Monday afternoon in the 100-block of Grosvenor Avenue.

"Fire crews were able to contain and extinguish the fire," said a news release sent Tuesday by the fire department.

"There is significant fire and smoke damage to the dwelling."

Firefighters responded to the call just before 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

On Tuesday morning, the scene of the fire was relatively quiet, with only some visible soot in the door frame to signify there was a fire at the home the night before.

No injuries were reported as a result of the residential fire.

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services noted PUC and Enbridge Gas were also on scene at the time of the fire.
