**********************************
Snow squall watch issued for:
    •    Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay
    •    Sault Ste. Marie - St. Joseph Island

Current details:
Significant lake effect snow squalls expected Thursday into Friday.

Hazards:
Locally heavy snowfall with accumulations of 20 to 40 cm through Friday.
Peak snowfall rates of 5 to 10 cm per hour.
Very poor visibility at times in heavy snow and local blowing snow.

Timing:
Beginning Thursday and continuing into Friday.

Discussion:
Lake effect snow squalls off Lake Superior are forecast to develop by Thursday morning and persist into Friday. The snow squall bands will likely shift from time to time, although amounts higher than 40 cm are possible if a snow squall band locks in for an extended period.

Road closures are possible given the expected poor travel conditions.

Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
