Terry Sheehan, Member of Parliament for the riding of Sault Ste. Marie, invites all young Canadians from the ages of 15-25 to attend an information session regarding his Constituency Youth Council.
Date? Tuesday June 14th, 2022, at 7pm on Zoom.
What? The Constituency Youth Council is an opportunity for youth to learn about Canada’s political process, discuss their viewpoints on issues, and most importantly, get involved in their communities. Council members will also have opportunities to advice and discuss with the MP regarding issues and topics affecting youth. Projects that could be undertaken by the Constituency Youth Council could range from fun youth events, multimedia projects, and policy development sessions. Furthermore, the Council will also discuss issues of importance such as climate change, gender equality, and youth employment. This year’s Council will have the chance to build on these discussions and embark on projects that will positively impact our community.
Term? The Constituency Youth Council meets time to time throughout the year.
MP Sheehan Quote: “Giving youth a voice is vital to our government. A youth perspective brings a new light to issues touching our community, and our country. The CYC in Sault Ste. Marie will be one of many opportunities for the youth voice to be heard from our community. As your Member of Parliament, I intend to bring this perspective with me, working in Ottawa.”
