The MP for Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District has new duties.
Terry Sheehan has been appointed parliamentary secretary to the minister of Indigenous Services and minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario (FedNor).
Sheehan previously served as the parliamentary secretary for FedNor from 2019 to 2021.
"Sheehan is eager to work with his fellow Northern Ontario Caucus colleague, Minister Hajdu, in her mandate to progress reconciliation, work hand in hand with Indigenous communities, increase the operational successes of Indigenous Services Canada, and promote economic prosperity throughout Northern Ontario," said a news release from Sheehan's office.

Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District MP Terry Sheehan, has been appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario (FedNor).
Sheehan previously served as the parliamentary secretary for FedNor from 2019 to 2021, and was instrumental in making it an independent agency in the federal government. As a lifelong advocate for Northern Ontario’s economic prosperity and social well-being, he has worked tirelessly to ensure that local businesses, workers, and families have the support they need to thrive.
As he returns to this role, Sheehan will continue his work championing the businesses, industries, and workers who drive the Northern Ontario economy. From small business owners to manufacturers, tech start-ups, and natural resource industries, FedNor plays an important role in supporting growth and innovation across the region and will be crucial in responding to the unjustified Trump tariffs.
Sheehan’s appointment to Indigenous Services comes at a critical time as the federal government continues to prioritize Indigenous-led projects, reconciliation efforts, and nation-to-nation partnerships. In this role, MP Sheehan will work closely alongside Minister Hajdu and with Indigenous communities to expand access to services, improve infrastructure, support Indigenous self-determination and government, and continue developing nation-to-nation relationships.
