Scam alert: Huron Shores fire department is not raising cash for burn victims

Municipality is warning residents about scammers pretending to raise funds: 'If you receive such a call, do not engage or provide any personal or financial information'

The Municipality of Huron Shores is alerting residents of scam calls circulating in the community, falsely claiming to collect donations for burn victims on behalf of the Huron Shores Fire Department.

"Please note that the Huron Shores Fire Department is not soliciting donations for burn victims by phone or any other method," the municipality said in a news release issued today.

"We advise all residents to exercise caution. If you receive such a call, do not engage or provide any personal or financial information."
