New Year's Day 2021 came and went without a New Year’s birth in the Sault and Algoma region, but Laken Farrell came into the world at 12:20 a.m. Saturday at Sault Area Hospital (SAH), a baby boy for mother Krista Sutherland and father Danny Farrell.

Laken is seven pounds, two ounces in weight, 54.5 centimetres long.

“Everything went well,” said Elizabeth Dear, SAH registered nurse, speaking to SooToday, mother and child reportedly doing fine.

Laken is Sutherland and Farrell’s second child.

The couple have a daughter.
