Next week's July 6 and July 8 print editions of the Sault Star will be the last Wednesday and Friday papers of the broadsheet's 110-year history.

The Postmedia-owned, Tuesday-through-Saturday newspaper announced Tuesday that starting July 12, its print edition will be published on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays only.

Subscription prices will remain the same, notwithstanding two fewer issues each week.

But print subscribers will be allowed complimentary access to the National Post ePaper, as well as online access to 16 Postmedia publications across Canada.

"This change reflects the changing media landscape in North America and our own digital transformation," the newspaper announced.

In May 2017, Postmedia sold the 30,000-square-foot Sault Star building at 145 Old Garden River Rd. to DiTommaso Developments.

Newspaper employees vacated the building at the end of November 2020 and have been working from home ever since.

The site is to become a 20-bed residential withdrawal management centre.
