A 33-year-old from Sault Ste. Marie was pulled over near Parry Sound and charged with impaired driving and speeding.

OPP officers with the West Parry Sound Detachment were patrolling the area of Carling Township on Aug. 11 when they stopped the driver on Highway 69.

“After speaking with the driver, officers concluded alcohol had been consumed,” says a press release issued today by the OPP.

Chantel Russel-Cress is charged with:

  • operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • speeding
  • driver fail to surrender licence

The driver was slapped with a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on Sept. 21, 2023.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Russel-Cress is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
