A 39-year-old from Tarbutt and Tarbutt Additional is facing multiple charges after the OPP received a tip about a pick-up truck full of stolen metal.

The investigation began on Monday, when the Sault detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a theft on Neebish Road in Laird Township. A motorcycle had been stolen from a shed and a portable electric fireplace was missing from a travel trailer.

The next day, shortly after after 12:30 p.m., police say a person observed three individuals loading a pick-up truck full of metal believed to be stolen from a property on Short Drive. Officers later located the truck at a recycling centre in Sault Ste. Marie.

After arresting the suspect, police say they returned to his property and recovered the stolen motorcycle and portable fireplace, which was returned to the owner.

Roddy Rydall is charged with theft of a motor vehicle and break and enter to commit an indictable offence.

He is scheduled back in court on August 14, 2023. None of the allegations have been tested in court and Rydall is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
