One person was sent to hospital after a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon that involved a police officer in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
The crash occurred at 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of M-129 and 3 Mile Road.

The police car was eastbound on 3 Mile Road with lights and sirens heading to an alarm at the Department of Health and Human Services, just east of this intersection, when the crash occurred.
The officer was able to walk away from his patrol car, which sustained heavy front-end damage.
The lone person in the other car was trapped inside, according to fire personnel at the scene. Sault Ste. Marie Fire Department used the jaws of life.
The person in the other vehicle was transported to MyMichigan Medical Center - Sault with injuries.
The accident is under investigation by the Michigan State Police.
