The Sault College women’s hockey team is gearing up for its home opener on Saturday at the Northern Community Centre.

To kick off the home opener, the 2023-24 National Championship team will be honoured for its 2024 ACHA W2 National Championship win with a banner raising ceremony.

"The community is invited to join us as we celebrate our national champions and cheer on the 2024-25 team as they play host to the Niagara University Purple Eagles," a news release said.

The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. with puck drop to follow at 7:10 p.m. During the ceremony, the 2024-25 Cougars team will be introduced followed by the banner unveiling, a symbol of the hard work and dedication of the 2023-24 team.

The home opener will feature a thrilling match-up as the Sault College Cougars take on Niagara University. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to participate in the festivities and secure the best seats to witness both the ceremony and an action-packed game.

Admission to the game is $10.  Entry for children under 12 and Sault College students is free. Eight-game punch cards are available for $40 at the door.

"Join us at the NCC this Saturday and celebrate this remarkable accomplishment," the release said.
