Sault College 'Hairs to You' event provides free wigs

Sault College hairstyling students put on a special event recently, one that is held annually in support of people living with hair loss.

This year's instalment of Hair's to You featured fundraising, food and refreshments and a chance for attendees to find out more about the school's Wig Clinic. Find out more in the following news release:

Hair’s to You 2023, the annual event organized by Sault College's hairstyling program, wrapped up with strong results, demonstrating the community's commitment to supporting the Sault College wig clinic and those individuals living with hair loss.

One of the highlights of the event was the fitting of new wigs for six clients facing hair loss, each provided completely free of charge.

These transformations not only boosted the recipients' self-esteem, but also underscored the event's purpose of making a tangible difference in people's lives.

In addition, almost $600 was raised, a contribution that will be used to acquire new wigs for those in need. The funds were collected through various activities organized during the event.

Guests enjoyed tours, photo-ops with Betty, a local drag queen and Sault College student, food and refreshments provided by Chartwells, great conversations, and an opportunity to learn firsthand about the Wig Clinic and the support it provides.

“The success of the Hair’s to You event wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our hairstyling students and incredible support of our local community,” said Danielle Lidstone, hairstyling professor. “Together we were able to change the lives of six clients and spread the word on this amazing program. We are grateful to everyone who helped make this event happen.”
