Sault cemeteries open up more space for urns — but don’t wait to reserve yours

Have you decided to be cremated when you die? You’ll want to read this.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie says a new slate of Columbarium niches — where cremated remains are placed — will be available for purchase starting on Sept. 16.

The New Greenwood Cemetery will offer 40 single niches and 60 companion niches, while Holy Sepulchre Cemetery will provide 56 single niches and 84 companion niches.

A single niche starts at $1,176.99, while a companion goes for $1,902.65 (plus HST).

Anyone with further questions — What are the dimensions? Does that price include interment and engraving? — are encouraged to call 705-759-5336, or visit the cemetery office at 27 Fourth Line East from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
