Sault-born scientist and marine biologist Dr. Christine Stortini will be the guest for the Sault Climate Hub's webinar on March 26.

The Sault Climate Hub will be welcoming Sault-born scientist and marine biologist Dr. Christine Stortini as their guest for a webinar on March 26.

The event is free to attend on Zoom and starts at 7:30 p.m.

The talk will feature an overview of the basics of marine biology and oceanography. It will also focus on the give-and-take relationship between humans and the ocean.

Stortini grew up between St. Joseph Island and Toronto, then moved to Nova Scotia to pursue a career in Marine Biology.

She completed both her bachelor of science and Master of Environmental Studies at Dalhousie University in Halifax and her PhD in theoretical marine ecology at Queen’s University in Kingston.

Stortini has worked in the fields of geospatial climate change vulnerability assessment, species distribution models, conservation planning for climate change resilience, data management, science program coordination, and strategic science planning.

She has also provided several classroom visits, online public talks, and even ran her own children’s Ocean Education business between 2020 and 2022.
