Algoma District School Board’s Chair Jennifer Sarlo and Director of Education Lucia Reece accepted a donation from Neil McLean, President, Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie North.

Sault North Rotary Club is using its 'Trip of the Month' fundraiser to help finance the breakfast program for the Algoma District School Board.

The money goes to the purchase of fresh fruit, milk, yogurt, cereals and other healthy options which are much needed by some students who arrive at school without breakfast or snacks for the day.

Now more than ever, food programs are important for children and youth in our schools, a news release said. The need for these programs continues to grow and the programs are being utilized by students in almost all ADSB elementary and secondary schools. Studies have shown that children whose nutritional needs are met have fewer attendance and discipline problems, and their ability to learn is enhanced.

The club's trip draw also funds youth leadership development, psychological assessments for children and now has partnered with USW LU 2251 to match funding on the breakfast program. To learn more about Rotary and the Sault North Club, visit SaultNorthRotary.ca.
