A residential fire on Herrick Street caused significant damage Monday night, says a news release issued by Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services.
Sault Ste. Marie Fire Service crews were called to a residential fire on Herrick Street shortly after 6 p.m.
Upon arrival, smoke was seen coming from the multi-unit dwelling. Crews were able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire was cooking related. Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services would like to remind residents to always stay in the kitchen while cooking and keep anything that can catch fire away from your stovetop.
There is significant damage to the building. There are no injuries to report.
