Are you ready to reel in a big one?

To celebrate Father's Day, there's a free family fishing weekend June 15 to 16. It means Ontario residents can drop a line in the water anywhere in the province without having to purchase a licence or carry an Outdoors Card.

"Father’s Day weekend is a great time to get out on one of Ontario’s beautiful lakes or rivers and enjoy fishing,” said Graydon Smith, Minister of Natural Resources, in a news release.

Conservation catch limits and other regulations still apply. You can learn more about those here

While you don't need a licence to fish, people participating still must be carrying a government-issued identification showing their name and date of birth.

If you can't drop a line this weekend, free Family Fishing Week is coming up June 29 to July 7.
