Random acts of kindness continue to spring up here and there.

A total stranger left Lavine Livesey in shock.

Livesey, 81, of Richards Landing and good friend, Joanne Jenney were in Sault Ste. Marie Tuesday, one day after Livesey's birthday to run errands.

In Walmart, Livesey was driving an in-store battery operated courtesy scooter picking up a few essentials.

As she approached the counter to begin her check out, a young man with two elementary-aged boys stood in front ahead of her.

"I told him I was not a good driver and new at driving one of those things (scooter) and could unintentionally bump into him," she said.

The young man, who was not familiar to Livesey, asked her if he could put her purchases on the conveyor.

"Yes, I appreciate it, " she replied. "Your wife trained you well."

"No, my mother," he replied.

The stranger put the bagged groceries into the cart and handed her the sales slip.

"It's been taken care of," Livesey was told.

Due to a medical condition, Livesey cannot shed a tear.

"I would cry if I could, that's how I feel," she said with a lump in her throat.

The bill totaled $48.

In a state of shock, Livesey did thank the kind stranger.

The young man wore a T-shirt with a Superman logo on it.

Two customers standing behind Livesey reportedly said, "he really is a super man."

Livesey was the recipient of a random act of kindness.

"It flabbergasted me," she said. "You hear about coffee or tolls paid for, but groceries. A belated birthday gift indeed."

Livesey intends to keep the kindness going. She plans to make her random act at the Richards Landing Community night on July 27.
