Princess Auto not opening until 2023 (3 photos)

Company experiencing construction delays, Princess Auto spokesperson says

Princess Auto will not open its doors to consumers in the Sault until next year.

“There have been a few construction delays, and we are now looking at an early 2023 opening for our 35,000 square foot store in Sault Ste. Marie,” said Princess Auto spokesperson Daniel Verville in an email on Tuesday.

It is not known if supply chain issues regarding building materials are involved.

“We will have more updates on hiring as the year continues to progress,” Verville said.

Princess Auto, a Winnipeg-based tool and equipment retailer, announced in July 2021 that it would open a Sault location this summer.

The new store will be located at the site of the former Lowe’s store in the shopping plaza at 248 Northern Ave. E.

Lowe’s closed in 2019.

The site has also been home to Zellers and K-Mart over the years.
