A special Prince Township council meeting - involving the selection of a new chief administrative officer (CAO)/clerk/treasurer - planned for 6:30 p.m. Monday has been cancelled.
The public meeting has been rescheduled to a closed council meeting at Council Chambers 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22 according to the township’s website.
The meeting was rescheduled and changed to a closed session of council upon the advice of Prince Township’s legal department, said Ken Lamming, Prince Township mayor, speaking to SooToday.
The meeting will be for council to receive legal advice on a confidential human resource matter and the establishment of a recruiting strategy for filling the CAO/clerk-treasurer vacancy.
Prince Township is looking for a new CAO after the termination of Mary Lynn Duguay from that position on Wednesday, March 16. Duguay told SooToday that no reason was given for the termination.
Duguay was hired as CAO after Peggy Greco resigned from the job in late October 2021, citing a heavy workload and low wages among the reasons for her departure.
Duguay’s firing was followed by Prince Township deputy clerk and treasurer Lorraine Mousseau suddenly taking leave from her job Thursday March 17.
