NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF SAULT STE MARIE
*************************
May 1-7 is Emergency Preparedness (EP) Week. Being prepared is everyone’s responsibility as emergencies can strike anywhere, anytime.
You can learn how to be prepared at the Emergency Preparedness Showcase taking place 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., Saturday, May 7 at the Station Mall Walmart parking lot.
This is your opportunity to meet the local emergency response network and receive important information.
The showcase will feature hot drinks, local mascots, free give-a-ways, and demonstrations of emergency equipment, vehicle tours and draws for 72-hr emergency kits.
This year’s EP Week theme is ‘Emergency Preparedness Starts with You, Prepare YourSelfie’.
Sault Ste. Marie Emergency Management has teamed up with the Vulnerable Persons Registry to reinforce the importance of having an emergency survival kit, through an online contest.
Participants can ‘post a selfie’ with their survival kits for a chance to win a $50 gift card, courtesy of the Station Mall. For full contest details go to saultstemarie.ca/beprepared.
During an emergency, response agencies focus their efforts first where the need is greatest – that is why individual emergency preparedness is so important for you, your family and your pets.
