Power outage currently affecting several areas (all power restored)

PUC is currently investigating the cause or causes of a power outage affecting several areas of the Sault.

5:30 p.m. - update

PUC reports a power interruption affecting 2511 customers began at 4:35 p.m. and power should be restored to all customers at this time.
 
The power interruption was caused by equipment failure.

The areas affected included from West to Gore Streets to the river; Bay Street businesses; Wilson to Moluch Streets, Northern Avenue to McDonald Avenue; and, Elizabeth Street to Shannon Road, Trunk Road to Queen Street East.

5:22 p.m. - update

Power has returned to The Station Mall and other areas of downtown.

5 p.m. - original story

PUC Inc. reports a power outage is currently affecting areas around Queen and Albert Streets West, Cathcart Street and Jamestown as well as the P. Patch and areas around Pine Street.

A spokesperson for the PUC said the cause of the outages is unknown and PUC has dispatched crews to investigate.

He also said to expect the outage to last at least two hours.

Anyone with information about possible causes of the outage is asked to call the PUC after hours emergency line at (705) 759-6555.
