Plenty of nickels for Nicoletta: 50/50 winner pockets $90K

Domenic Nicoletta bought his ticket for Sault Area Hospital Foundation's 50/50 draw after receiving a last-minute email reminder; 'This came at the best possible time'

Sault Ste. Marie's Domenic Nicoletta is the latest winner of the Sault Area Hospital Foundation's 50/50 draw.

Nicoletta won the April jackpot, which was $90,590.

Nicoletta regularly purchases tickets for the draw, but he actually bought his April tickets later than usual: on April 27, after receiving a last-minute email reminder.

"This came at the best possible time,” he said. “My daughter is getting married this summer, and we’ll be using some of the money for that."

Nicoletta's ticket was drawn on April 28.

Ray Dumais of Sault Ste. Marie won $15,000 as April's early bird winner.
