Woman charged with assault and mischief

JOHNSON TOWNSHIP – On January 31, 2016, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) at 12:10 p.m., police were advised of a domestic dispute that had occurred at residence on Pollard Drive in Johnson Township. 

The male advised police that he was assaulted numerous times by his girlfriend and she had caused damage to his residence. 

The 40-year-old female, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was charged with:

  • Spousal assault (X5), contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code; and
  • Mischief under $5,000, contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sault Ste. Marie on February 1, 2016.
