City-run outdoor rinks opened to the public on Dec. 26.
Opening of the Clergue Park Skating Trail is delayed, however, until the ice is in better condition. City rink security guard, Anmol Singh told SooToday he hopes it will be ready within the next day or two.
Families and friends flocked to the rinks to enjoy the afternoon sun and the fresh ice.
Whether it was to try out their new Christmas skates, spend time with family and friends, or just get out of the house, the Art Jennings Oval at the John Rhodes Arena saw lots of action.
The Merrifield, Esposito and Anna McCrea rinks are also open and ready to skate on.
The plan is to keep all city-run rinks open as long as the weather holds out, likely mid March, Singh said.
