Public Health Ontario reported 694 new COVID cases today for Aug. 29.
The latest update noted 540 recoveries and zero deaths.
The Aug. 30 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:
- Of the new cases reported today, 403 were unvaccinated people, 73 were partially vaccinated, 167 were fully vaccinated, and 51 are listed as vaccination status unknown (missing health card information).
- 6,028 active, lab-confirmed cases, up from 5,874 yesterday.
- 226 COVID-positive people are currently hospitalized in Ontario.
- There are 134 COVID-positive patients in intensive care, plus another 26 patients who no longer test positive for COVID-19.
- 74 COVID patients are on ventilators and another 19 patients on ventilators no longer test positive for COVID-19.
- The vaccination status for hospitalized cases is not updated Sundays and Mondays.
- 9,923,606 Ontarians (about 66 per cent of the total population) have been fully vaccinated and another 879,566 have a single dose of COVID vaccine.
- The province reported 18,561 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 3.6 per cent positivity rate. Provincial labs have processed 17.2 million tests to date.
- Of the new cases reported today 121 are from Toronto, 104 are from Peel, 16 are from Simcoe-Muskoka, and 98 are from York Region.
- Today's cases include 108 individuals under 12 years old, 69 youth between 12 and 19 years old, 283 people between 20 and 39 years old, 159 people between 40 and 59 years old, 62 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 12 people over 79 years old.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 565,025 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 549,499 recoveries and 9,498 deaths.
The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,834.8 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.
Ontario's average weekly incidence rate last week was 31.9 cases per 100,000 people, which is up by 18.6 per cent from the week of Aug. 11.

Northern Ontario
In Northern Ontario, the breakdown of Public Health Ontario data is:
- Algoma Public Health: 431 cases, weekly rate of 8.5 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 430 cases. There are 19 known active cases.
- North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit: 668 cases, weekly rate of 6.2 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 670 cases. There are seven known active cases.
- Porcupine Health Unit: 2,168 cases, weekly rate of 7.1 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 2,170 cases. There are eight known active cases.
- Public Health Sudbury and Districts: 2,259 cases, weekly rate of 15.1 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 2,274 cases. There are 45 known active cases.
- Timiskaming Health Unit: 209 cases, weekly rate of 0 cases per 100,000 people. There are no known active cases.
- Northwestern Health Unit: 1,119 cases, weekly rate of 7.4 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 1,118 cases. There are five known active cases.
- Thunder Bay District Health Unit: 3,363 cases, weekly rate of 3.2 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 3,364 cases. There are 10 known active cases.
