Ontario reports 331 new COVID cases Tuesday

Public Health Ontario reported 331 new COVID cases today.

The latest updates noted 383 recoveries and seven deaths.

The Nov. 2 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:

  • 3,100 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 3,159 yesterday. 
  • 230 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, however about 10 per cent of Ontario hospitals don't report their bed census on weekends.
  • There are 111 COVID-positive patients in the ICU plus another 25 patients no longer testing positive for COVID-19.
  • There are 67 COVID-positive patients on ventilators and another 16 patients on ventilators no longer testing positive for COVID. 
  • 11,031,522 Ontarians (about 74 per cent of the total population) have been fully vaccinated. 88 per cent of eligible Ontarians have at least one dose of vaccine.
  • Included in the new cases today are 156 unvaccinated, 14 partially vaccinated, and 136 fully vaccinated people. 25 cases were reported with vaccination status unknown (missing health card data). 
  • Among the ICU cases are 59 unvaccinated, five partially vaccinated and 14 fully vaccinated people. 
  • Those hospitalized with COVID (but not in the ICU) include 92 unvaccinated, 14 partially vaccinated, and 45 fully vaccinated people. 
  • The seven-day average incidence rate by vaccination status is 5.8 cases per 100,000 unvaccinated people, 2.6 cases per 100,000 partially vaccinated people, and 1.2 cases per 100,000 fully vaccinated people.
  • The province reported 20,148 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 1.5 per cent positivity rate.
  • Of the new cases reported today, 42 are from Toronto, 36 are from Peel, 22 are from Simcoe-Muskoka, and 44 are from York Region.
  • Today's new cases include 69 individuals under 12 years old, 28 youth between 12 and 19 years old, 87 people between 20 and 39 years old, 85 people between 40 and 59 years old, 53 people between 60 and 79 years old, and nine people over 79 years old.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 600,708 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 587,727 recoveries and 9,881 deaths.

Since the start of the pandemic, 30,508 people have been hospitalized with COVID and 6,000 of them were in intensive care units.

The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 4,077 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.

Ontario's average weekly incidence rate last week was 16.3 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 8.4 per cent compared to the week of Oct. 17.

Northern Ontario

In Northern Ontario, the breakdown of Public Health Ontario data is:

  • Algoma Public Health: 544 cases, weekly rate of 27.2 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 545 cases. There are 58 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 90 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 86 per cent have both doses.
  • North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit: 806 cases, weekly rate of 3.1 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 808 cases. There are 5 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 86 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 83 per cent have both doses.
  • Porcupine Health Unit: 2,222 cases, weekly rate of 2.4  cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 2,224 cases. There are 2 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 90 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 84 per cent have both doses.
  • Public Health Sudbury and Districts: 2,846 cases, weekly rate of 75.5 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 2,887 cases. There are 206 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 91 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 87 per cent have both doses.
  • Timiskaming Health Unit: 245 cases, weekly rate of 5.9 cases per 100,000 people.  The health unit has reported 247 cases. There are 3 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 87 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 83 per cent have both doses.
  • Northwestern Health Unit: 1,196 cases, weekly rate of 1.2 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 1,195 cases. There are 3 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 89 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 83 per cent have both doses.
  • Thunder Bay District Health Unit: 3,427 cases, weekly rate of 9.5 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 3,428 cases. There are 15 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 93 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 89 per cent have both doses.
