While many Sault and area patios reopen today for outdoor diners and beverage sippers as part of Step 1 of the Ontario government’s Roadmap to Reopen plan, Northern Superior Brewing is putting the finishing touches on its own new patio and dining space.
“We are in the final stages of construction and set up and hope to be open next week (targeting June 17) to welcome new and existing customers to enjoy the ‘Northern experience,’” said Tim Lukenda, Northern Superior co-owner in an email to SooToday.
“Jeff Dicorpo, really, deserves all the credit for the blood, sweat and tears that he put into actually building this patio. He deserves the credit for the effort in building the patio,” Lukenda said of his business partner.
The other new addition to Northern Superior Brewing Company will be called The Tap Room, designed to be a family-friendly, pet-friendly community gathering place with an indoor/outdoor feel.
It has the ability to open full-length glass garage doors to create full access to the new patio.
The Tap Room and patio are clearly visible from Bay Street, located next to the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre with immediate access to the waterfront and Hub Trail.
The patio will include an area for customers to enjoy games including bean bag toss, bocce and giant Jenga, Lukenda said.
The Tap Room’s customers will be able to choose food items from the establishment’s ‘Taste of the Soo’ menu, featuring selected offerings from local restaurants and have their selection delivered in the Tap Room by brewery staff. The Tap Room will offer eight craft beer options from Northern Superior as well as a rotating seasonal beer. It will also offer a variety of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Lukenda said a limited number of patrons will have the opportunity on a first-come-first-serve basis to join the ‘Northern Legends Mug Club’ that will entitle them to have their own mug stored on site for when they visit, as well as other discounts and benefits. Takeout beer and merchandise will be available.
